East Street Restaurant Review

East Street is a great new restaurant on Rathbone Place, just off of Oxford Street.

I’d passed by every day and kept seeing the bright blue and yellow canopy catching a glimpse of the cool interior and knew that I had to try it!

What’s even better is that they have a lunch deal of 2 courses for £7.95! High quality Asian food at value-for-money prices..what more could you want?

East Street blends the tastes of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan through healthy and delicious food. Dishes range from noodles, curries, stir fries and rice dishes all composed from signature dishes like Green thai curry or street food favourites from across East Asia.

I had some minced pork gyoza to start with..

…these were a great little starter to whet my appetite, light but flavoursome with pieces of spring onion and bamboo shoot accompanying the pork!

Next up I had another great dish named nani goreng; here it is in all its glory:

This Indonesian influenced dish is made up of spicy wok fried rice with mushrooms, lime leaves, onion flakes and more chilli. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a lovely kick to it, which really made the dish. I helped myself to some extra chilli sauce, which really did blow my socks off but was amazing!

Overall, I would definitely say this is a place to try out. The cool interior has a laid back feel and a sort of street food/market vibe. The shelves are also stocked with great ingredients that you can purchase if you want to try and make something yourself! The service was very friendly and helpful and our meals came out pretty quickly, so all in all a great experience.
