Have you ever tried Agua Fresca? It’s ridiculously easy to make, all you need is fruit, sugar and water and you have the perfect Mexican ‘fresh water’ as it is translated from Spanish!
I have used dried hibiscus flowers, which I bought from Wahaca. They have a great smell about them and a tartness that is almost like the sharp cranberry taste!
To make your Aqua fresca grab a jug, put your dried flowers in and add boiling water and a lot of sugar to sweeten everything up and then stir, stir, stir so the sugar dissolves into the boiling water.
You can leave this to cool, then stick it in the fridge overnight and serve in nice tall glasses (straining the hibiscus flowers off).
It’s wonderfully light and refreshing, with a slightly sour kick to it and the gorgeous crimson colour is absolutely beautiful!
