Arbina – Taste of Spain
If you are looking for an authentic Spanish restaurant then look no further…
Arbina is the kind of place that you can easily spend a whole evening in watching the world go by over a bottle of wine or two.
Newly opened last week, Arbina is conveniently located on Whitfield Street, away from the hustle and bustle of Tottenham Court Road but minutes from Warren St tube.
Relaxed and informal, the seating is a mix of tables and benches with unbelievably comfy high stools finished with beautifully soft mood lighting from low hanging bulbs.
We opted for some tapas to share, choosing Andalucian calamari (£7) and ‘Morcilla dos salsas’ (£5.50) – authentic Spanish black pudding with two tomato based sauces. Most people turn their nose up at black pudding, but if you try this you will see what all the fuss is about.
Both tickled our fancy and we couldn’t wait for our mains!
At just £13 for a rib eye steak, we had to try it and the Chimichurri sauce was one of the best I’ve had by far!
A selection of cheeses are available for £12.50 with a gorgeous variety of Manchego, goat and smoked and creamy sheep cheese.
The chef certainly knows what he is doing and we even got to meet him, as he came up to greet all the diners and make sure everything was up to scratch with the food and ask for any feedback – always a good sign to know that the chef cares about what customers think!
Service was impeccable and absolutely faultless. Our waiter was attentive and extremely helpful with every question we had, (believe me, we had lots!) although unfortunately he would not tell us the magic ingredients in the Chimichurri sauce!
I’ll most certainly be going back to Arbina to try out the rest of the menu, and I’m told that the Chef is known for his Paella…so watch out for more updates!
